Geology Field Trip
Science Adventure Tours
July 11, 2026

Tour Guide: Mark Finkbeiner

Theme: The Earth is a Museum to the Flood

About the Field Trip
Washington is an incredible place to explore Earth's history through geology. If these rocks could talk, what would they tell us about the past?
Join us for another fantastic, family-friendly field trip perfect for everyone, including homeschoolers!

On July 11, 2026, we will explore the scientific and geological evidence of a universal flood. Washington State is one of the world's most significant areas for studying geological catastrophism. Along the way, we will also dive into gold mining history, fossils, geodes, and thundereggs—including tips on how and where to find them.

We will caravan to approximately 10 stops along Highway 10, US 97, and the historic Old 97 Blewett Pass Highway. Our stops include Liberty, the oldest gold-mining ghost town in Washington. Together, we will examine catastrophic mudslides, lava flows, fossils, and unique rock formations.

The field trip will conclude between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
